Bring Your Workout Outdoors During Winter
Mr. Jack Frost might have arrived in Cleveland recently, but that doesn’t mean you need to stay away from the Cleveland/Bradley County Greenway or other frequented outdoor places to exercise your holiday meal off and keep in shape.
Use the Cold as a Motivator
For some, when winter comes, they put away their tennis shoes and hibernate for the season. However, even though people often think they’re helping their health by avoiding the cold and/or flu, they’re actually hurting themselves by not being physically active.
Don’t be one of them. Instead, take your running shoes back out and put on layers of clothing to attack your workout outdoors this winter. Put a sweat-wicking layer closest to your skin and a wind-resistant layer on the outside.
Not only will exercising help you improve your immunity to sickness, but it’ll also help get your body ready for the warmer months in 2017. Plus, going for a walk or run outside can be a great way to maintain your weight during all the holiday gatherings, as well as give you an opportunity to release some of that holiday stress you may be feeling.
In addition, there’s plenty of room in the great outdoors! And come January, the gyms will be jam-packed with more than enough people who are starting out fresh with their resolutions. Don’t fight the crowd in the gym by taking advantage of what Cleveland (or even Chattanooga) has to offer outside this winter.
