Does AFC Urgent Care Cleveland Run Labs?

Our bodies are incredibly complex. They have the most unique and intricate systems of maintaining and facilitating our needs on a daily basis, and we really don’t give them the credit they deserve!

Each of our systems need to work in tandem to keep us healthy and avoid injury, but sometimes, things can go awry and you may be wondering what is going on.

This is where our AFC Urgent Care Cleveland team shines! We have a variety of diagnostic tools at our disposal, including a full lab where we can run bloodwork and a variety of tests. Read on to learn more.

What Tests Can AFC Run?

When you aren’t feeling your best and you can’t figure out why, come see us. After an initial physical exam and health history, we can determine if some blood work would help us get to the bottom of your condition.

One of the most common labs that we run is a CBC, or a complete blood count. This blood measure measures and counts your blood cells, which can give us a really good indication of what is going on in your body.

Potential Diagnoses From a CBC Lab

  • Anemia
  • A variety of infections
  • Immune system disorders
  • Blood diseases

What Is Anemia?

Anemia is a common diagnosis after reviewing a patient’s CBC. In fact, it is the most common blood condition in the world! Anemia is a condition that develops when your blood fails to produce a healthy level of red blood cells.

This low red blood cell count leads to reduced oxygen flow to the body. This depleted oxygen level leads to fatigue, lightheadedness, dizziness or a rapid heartbeat. A CBC can quickly provide us with the information we need to diagnose you and then we can determine the proper treatment plan for you moving forward. This often includes incorporating some lifestyle changes like increasing your iron intake.

Avoiding Anemia

  • Eat iron-rich foods like lean meat, fish, eggs and dried beans.
  • Consume more folic acid from dark, leafy green vegetables.
  • Increase your vitamin D intake.
  • Take an iron supplement as recommended.
