What Is the Benefit of Telemedicine for Patients?

While we all know the importance of keeping our distance and staying home, we also know that there are times that we still might need medical care—even in the midst of social distancing.

Our team at AFC Urgent Care Cleveland wants you to know that we are here for you! As an added layer of protection, our urgent care center is now offering AFC TeleCare services so that our team can provide the necessary medical care you need while you are still safely at home.

How Does Telemedicine Work?

Telemedicine is pretty much like a regular medical appointment—except you and your medical provider are separated by a screen! Once you schedule an AFC TeleCare appointment, you will receive a private link to a video chat.

You can access the chat from a computer, tablet or smartphone, as long as they’re equipped with a microphone and video functionality. During your appointment, your provider will carefully review your symptoms with you and offer a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Conditions Telemedicine Can Treat

Can Everything Be Diagnosed Via Telemedicine?

No, telemedicine is not intended for the treatment of all medical conditions. Many everyday illnesses and injuries can be treated by AFC TeleCare, but there may be some instances where additional, in-person medical care is needed.

Emergency medical symptoms, such as shortness of breath and chest pain, are not appropriate for telemedicine.
